Lifetime achievement award goes to ACCA's Roger Adams

Long-term commitment to the sustainability agenda receives recognition

30 Mar 2010

Roger Adams, ACCA executive director - policy, has been awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award by the British Accounting Association (BAA) for his contribution to the accounting and finance community.

The Lifetime Achievement Award is given to individuals who have made a substantial and direct contribution to the academic accounting and finance community.

Adams was presented with his award at an evening dinner on 31 March at Cardiff City Hall, during the BAA's 2010 Annual Conference.

'I am absolutely thrilled to receive this accolade,' said Adams. 'The award reflects a long period of commitment to the sustainability cause by the Council of ACCA, its staff and a group of researchers who have worked closely with us since the early 1990s.

'Sustainability and Corporate Responsibility have moved from "zero to hero" as far as the accountancy profession is concerned - from being an irrelevance in 1990 to being recognised as a key strategic issue today. I am pleased to have been able to contribute to that change in attitude.'

Helen Brand, ACCA chief executive, added: 'This is of course a well-merited award and one that both ACCA and Roger are proud to receive.

'Roger's professionalism and drive has been a real bonus to ACCA over the years. It is wonderful news that Roger's commitment to both ACCA and the profession itself is being recognised by the BAA.

'All at ACCA offer our congratulations to Roger.'
