The Consultative Committee of Accountancy Bodies - Dutch Members Group 2008 Dear colleagues, We are pleased to report on a successful first half of 2008, of which the highlights were a fascinating lunchtime talk in March from Lord Michael Hastings on Corporate Social Responsibility and a stimulating all day conference on a variety of technical subjects in May. The events were well attended and were lively affairs not least thanks to the energetic participation of our attendees, who were very generous in their compliments on both speakers and locations. Our thanks go out to Ernst & Young for hosting our conference in their brand new Amsterdam office in such a professional and generous manner. The response to that event in particular has convinced us that it is a formula well worth repeating. At the end of the conference we held our AGM. We are pleased to announce the appointment of two new committee members, Lindsey Sanders, who has agreed to act as our Treasurer, and Nicolas Wykeman. A vote of thanks was also passed for the contribution to the committee over many years of David Hasell and John Graham, who have retired from the committee. Returning to our scheduling for the rest of the year, our timetable of events for the rest of 2008 is as follows. Please take the time to note the following dates in your diary:
Details of exact locations and timing, topics/speakers and cost, if any, will be communicated separately and in a timely fashion. The networking dinner may well be combined with a “virtual” golf clinic, while we hope to arrange our November meeting at the residence of the British Ambassador in The Hague. We look forward to seeing you in continuing large numbers during the rest of the year. As always, we would welcome any suggestions on events and activities. Any expressions of interest in participating actively in the committee would also be gratefully received. Finally, we draw your attention to the “LinkedIn” website, on which one of our members, Tom Heerkens, has opened a CCAB Dutch Members Group sub-site which you are all invited to visit and register a few personal details, if you wish, with a view to increasing mutual contact within our group. yours sincerely, Colin Longhurst
