ACCA PROFESSIONALISM AND ETHICS EVENT IN GEORGIA
Tbilisi, Georgia 19th of July, 2007
The ACCA Georgia Professionalism and Ethics event, held in conjunction with the annual ACCA Society in Georgia meeting, took place at the Conference Hall of Tori Hotel in Tbilisi. The evening event, comprising of a reception was attended by ACCA students and members in Georgia, a number of whom are also members of the national accountancy body GFPAA (the Georgian Federation of Professional Accountants and Auditors).
Over 100 professionals from finance, accounting and audit attended the event.
Notable guests at the event included Revaz Dzadzamia, President of GFPAA, Lavrenti Chumburidze, Executive Director of GFPAA and Marina Revazishvili, ACCA Tuition Manager in Georgia.
The event focused on ACCA's approach to ethics and professionalism in the context of accountancy. Emphasis was given to the proper training of accountants, and to the understanding that good ethics relies very much on the individual making the right choices when faced with ethical dilemmas.
Nataliya Vovchuk, ACCA Head in Ukraine, Baltic and Caucasus States gave a presentation on the way in which accountants can be guided and taught in order to obtain ethical skills and knowledge.
