Workplace mentor resources

Thank you for taking on the role of a workplace mentor – you have made an enormous difference to an ACCA trainee by helping them on the path to membership and ensuring the future of the accountancy profession.

As a workplace mentor, your role is to support the development of the trainee in the workplace and review their progress and achievement at work.

You should provide guidance and support to the trainee by:

  • helping identify which performance objectives the trainee should aim to achieve
  • setting timescales and targets for performance
  • providing access to appropriate work experience and supporting the trainees’ development
  • evaluating and reviewing their progress on a regular and ongoing basis
  • signing-off performance objectives that the trainee has achieved.

This section includes resources to help you with the practicalities of PER and being a workplace mentor, as well as advice on how to fulfil the role of a mentor, including useful case studies and guidance sheets.
