ACCA South Africa launches ACCA Realise - a new approach to Continuous Professional Development (CPD)
21 Jun 2005
It was really gratifying to see so many ACCA members and affiliates brace the cold morning on June 14th and attend the launch of ACCA Realise at the Park Hyatt, in Rosebank.
The main aim of the presentation was to take away the smoke and mirrors and the fear factor that grips people when CPD is mentioned.
CPD was demystified and members were reminded that commitment to CPD is recognised as something that separates the qualified from the non-qualified accountants. Staying up to date, showing that you are participating in ongoing development and complying with professional requirements is something for those who are qualified. Those who are not qualified have no such requirements.
Cheryl James, CEO of FASSET (the seta for finance professionals) also addressed the ACCA members and mentioned that ACCA members can attend, free of charge, any CPD courses that are run under the auspices of FASSET.
Members who attended the presentation and completed their development plan qualified for 5 CPD points.
