Did you miss the recent student engage live online broadcast? student accountant went behind the scenes to find out more. This year's event, broadcast in April, focused on study and training. Details of the event were advertised through student accountant, student accountant direct, the ACCA website, and via e-mail. This gave trainees plenty of time to submit their questions on topics such as CV and interview techniques, employment opportunities, exam preparation, and study resources. Globally, over 1,000 questions were submitted. Catherine Edwards, ACCA head of qualifications, and Steve Carter, managing director of financial recruitment specialists Nigel Lynn, answered a selection of the most frequently asked questions in the 30‑minute live broadcast. As both Edwards and Carter have both studied for exams and gained relevant training experience, they were able to give useful and practical advice, drawing on their own personal and professional experiences. Commenting on her participation in the student engage event, Edwards - also an ACCA member - said: 'As a lecturer for more than 10 years, prior to joining ACCA, and also in my role as head of qualifications, I have lots of experience in delivering presentations, but the student engage event was my first live online broadcast. I really enjoyed being able to give students practical advice on study and revision, although it was strange not having the interaction or feedback from a live audience.' Carter added: 'It was great to be involved in such a truly global project where trainees could tune in from all over the world to get advice. It was a fantastic feeling to know that we potentially had a massive, global live audience. I was very impressed with the large number of questions received and was only sorry we didn’t have time to address more of them.' Already seen by over 26,000 trainees, the broadcast is essential viewing for any trainee looking for guidance and advice on study and training. If you missed the live broadcast, you can still watch the event on the ACCA website where the webcast - available in a variety of bandwidths - will remain accessible for the rest of the year. |
